So what’s the best laptop out there for under or around $1,000?

Also, I’m not a huge fan of Macs, so would Vista work for me?

Now, I have to get a new laptop because I am studying for the board exams, and my next exam is in a month…I was wondering if you guys have some tips on buying laptops, and maybe if you know of a more durable one than a sony vaio. Any ideas? I’m thinking about putting it in a cooler of some sort, but I’m not sure if there’s enough ventilation. I’m also concerned about rain.
