Hi. I am looking for a laptop with 3-4G ram that is under 1,000.00. I am a graphic design student, and I need something that can get me through until I can afford to purchase a Macbook (which start at 1,200.00) and the more expensive software that goes with it. What specs should I be looking for, and what PC brands are the best? Thanks.

The extra memory if you can always invest 100 dollars in portable hard drive for me have the best laptop computer that graphic designers should use compaq know its not the whole creative suite installed as macromedia programs and more with still plenty.
